The Memory of Shurigekijo

Okinawa’s oldest theatre “Shurigekijo” was demolished on the 16th of October 2023.

I filmed this video 3years ago with Daiho Soga, the leader of Circo de Sastre and also Cinema dub Monks, with a kind permission from the owner of the theatre Masanori Kinjo, who past away last year. 

Daiho Soga is so devoted to this music, he imagines the old times when the theatre was full of people and the owner who kept this building until today.

Looking around, I can feel the shadows of audiences and the owner himself coming back to this old building. I hope this video reaches the people who have loved this theatre and its owner Masanori Kinjo.
